MusicThe Society reflects the rich musical tradition which is a cornerstone of the Irish culture. An example of maintaining this tradition was our establishment of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Glee Club of Cincinnati in 1985. The New York Society, with the help of Victor Herbert (a Dublin native) had established its Glee Club in 1913. At each Cincinnati banquet since its founding, the Glee Club has presented a short program of Irish songs, many of which were arranged by Victor Herbert himself, including "The Hail to the Friendly Sons." During the years a number of concerts were given at various nursing homes. Currently the forty-some voices of the Glee Club are led by Choral Director Damon Sink. We rehearse on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. from January through St. Patrick's Day in the undercroft at St. Xavier Church on Sycamore Street between Sixth and Seventh in downtown Cincinnati. Any interested first tenor, second tenor, baritone, or bass is welcome to contact Glee Club Coordinator, Dan Shea, to schedule an audition. Throughout the year the Glee Club will put on a number of performances both public and private. To see a list of performance dates and locations, please click HERE.
